Annie Nutt, MPH, CIC, FAPIC
Annie holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center. She has over 12 years of experience working as an Infection Preventionist in various healthcare settings and a Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) Epidemiologist for the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Annie has held her Certification in Infection Control (CIC) since 2014 and was named a Fellow of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (FAPIC) in 2022. Annie is an active member of the APIC Dallas-Fort Worth and East Texas chapters.



Career Highlights

Presented at local, state, and national conferences including the Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (APIC) annual conference in 2023 and the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) annual conference in 2022.

Played a managing role in the Texas DSHS COVID-19 Nursing Home Strike Team project which provided infection prevention expertise to over 3,000 long-term care facilities across the state that needed guidance to contain COVID-19 outbreaks.

Coauthored the APIC Issue Brief "Strategies to Mitigate Cross Contamination of Non-critical Medical Devices" and presented an APIC webinar on the topic which can be viewed from APIC's webinar library.

Successfully responded to more than 500 healthcare-associated infection (HAI) outbreaks. Examples include multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) outbreaks, influenza and COVID-19 outbreaks, and surgical site infection (SSI) outbreaks.

Conducted over 100 onsite infection control assessments in hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis clinics with the goal of identifying gaps in infection prevention practices and providing guidance to mitigate those gaps.

Served on the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) Test Committee from 2022 to 2024.
